I have worked continuously as a translator since obtaining my translation qualification at the Dolmetscherschule Zürich (School of Translation and Interpreting). These days I work mostly for law firms, but I also translate for banks, compliance agencies, retailers and private individuals. Confidentiality is a given. I do not have a 9 to 5 mentality and am not easily fazed by tight deadlines. Not only am I certified to translate from Dutch into English (and vice versa), I’m also one of the few people in the Netherlands (two at the last count) who’s certified to translate from German into English.
As a sworn translator, I’m required to keep my knowledge and skills up-to-date. Every year, I take courses and attend workshops to ensure I continue to provide top-quality translations. For instance, I recently participated in a full-day class on financial translation and a two-day workshop in London on the latest trends in employment law, discrimination and dismissal.
